the plan for today;

1

closing the last part of the ceiling with particle board with the help of James (JayCee)

2

starting in the small section with the layer of PVC plastic

the plastic is supposed to prevent any moist from breathing etc to leave the studio and enter the walls of the floating chamber.

good ventilation will be very important now,

not only for the supply of fresh air inside the studio but also for the moist to leave the room...

more on that in a later post

the last layers of rockwool where put in the ceiling today

yeah !!!

- -

- -

also the last piece of particle board for the walls was attached...

another yeah !!!

just 2 small parts to do on the ceiling, i hope to finish them tomorrow

- -

sealing the openings between the boards

- -

may 23

the particle boards where screwed to the ceiling but first some kit was applied to each wooden beam,

this way each separate "cell" was sealed off

the walls of the floating chamber are almost ready...

as far as the first layer (particle board) concerns.

- - - - - - - - -

i stuffed some more rockwool in the ceiling

- -

i had to remove the plastic pipe that was intended as second ventilation outlet because it was a serious sound leak.

ok...new plan...

so i gathered some stuff and did it all over again with a flexible tube, this time packed in rockwool...

i started with the backside today

the particle boards where attached.

lots of glue/kit and screws

- - - - - -

also some work was done on the door

-

here a closer view.

the thickness is now 9 cm (4 cm original door + 5 cm layer of rockwool)

i'm aiming at another 7 cm more (another 5 cm of rockwool plus 1,2 mm of particle board)

the final layer should be carpet or something like that

may 14

here the first preparations for thickening the door

both doors need more mass to absorb sound, so i started with the outer door first

here you can see the first layer of rockwool, 5 cm, within a wooden frame, attached to the door

- - - - - -

and here a test with large rubber "weather" seals

the rubber is 2 x 2,5 cm and will be placed on 3 sides of the door

i'm not sure how to do fix the bottom of the door, yet...

an overview from different angles

the blue markings are made to point out the position of the beams,

a tool to help adjusting the particle boards later on.

Today Loek worked on the doors and all the woodwork that comes with it

- - - - - -

- - - - -

also today i bought some more acoustic ceiling tiles (second hand)

i'm gonna fill up the ceiling with them.

when all is ready there will be something like 300 square meters of tiles in the studio (floor/walls/ceiling)

so i found myself cutting that rockwool again on a sunny aftermoon
